Gilli was born in Germany and has lived in Canada, she now lives in Hampshire where she paints from her studio overlooking the Solent and the Isle of Wight
The sea both inspires and frustrates her, with its many changing moods which Gilli tries to capture in her paintings, consequently you will see a lot of blue paint, turquoise being her favourite colour.
Most of Gilli’s paintings are as an emotional response, to a subject or feeling, and are impressionistic in style. Experimentation in use of all mediums results in a constant amazement, and very often the paintings take on a life of their own. Luscious oil paint is mostly present in her paintings.
In addition to the sea, the beautiful British landscape, in all seasons and atmospheric conditions, is a constant fascination.
Gilli has exhibited in various galleries, most recently Jack House Gallery, Old Portsmouth.Click to book a free ticket
